Cascade Caverns

They also offer a gem mining experience where children can sift through dirt to find colorful gemstones to take home as souvenirs.

The Cibolo Center for Conservation

@thecibolo | the center encompasses 160-acres of beautiful Hill Country trails & wilderness. It offers trails for visitors to explore and observe the native flora and fauna along the fields and waters of Cibolo Creek. It’s a beautiful spot to connect with nature and learn about the different species of plants and animals that live in the area and have fun outdoors. The center offers summer camps, courses, and other year-round nature-themed activities for children of all ages.

Herff Farm

@herffmarket | operated by the Cibolo Center for Conservation, it hosts public events, community gardens, hiking opportunities and a Farmers Market. It is a natural laboratory for sustainable modern living, where both children and adults can learn how to protect our natural resources. At the Farmer’s Market pick up fresh produce, local artisan products, food items, and visit the many vegetable gardens, flower gardens, the chicken coop, the monarch meadow and walk the wildlife trails. The market is held every Saturday, January – December.

The DOWNTOWN DIY

@thedowntondiy | a fully equipped craft & art studio that’s fun for both kids & adults. They have a crafting bar were guests can grab supplies, crafting items & tools to create whatever your heart desires or you can sign up for a class or workshop. They have painting, candle making, paper crafting, and more! Reservations are recommended.

BOERNE CITY LAKE PARKHILL COUNTRY PADDLE SPORTS

@hillcountrypaddlesports | kids will enjoy a covered playground and lots of open space to run around. Try the 18-hole disc golf course, play a game of volleyball at the nets, or paddle a kayak around the lake. The beach area is perfect for wading and cooling off, and there is a trail that goes around the lake. Hill Country Paddle Sports has SUP paddle boards and kayaks for rent. Great service & reasonably priced.

THE AGRICULTURE

@the_agricultural | a museum and arts center with antique tractors, farm equipment, a pioneer house, glass blowing, and blacksmith exhibitions. They support the preservation of the fine arts and Texas heritage, by preserving the past for future generations. A great place to take kids, as there are activities and fun things to see that will keep them engaged. They offer a pumpkin patch in the Fall, a Halloween Spooktacular event, tractor pulls, and more. Admission is by donation, and they are open on Saturdays 10am-4pm.

THE OLD JAIL MUSEUM

thejail.org | get locked up in a historic Texas jail cell and learn about the amazing history of the past at Kendall County Historic Jail Museum. Learn about the story of Texas Rangers Battle of Walker’s Creek, Kendall County Caves and Moonshine, Bat Bomb “Project X Ray”, The Apelt Armadillo Farm, The San Antonio and Aransas Pass Railway Co., the Newton Boys, and more. They have lots of cool artifacts and small exhibits that kids and adults will enjoy. Admission is $5 for Adults, kids under 10, free.

Cave Without A Name

@cavewithoutaname | despite it’s mysterious name, it’s a well-known tourist attraction and is designated as a National Natural Landmark. Originally discovered by settlers in the 1930s, it got its unique name, as it was so stunning that those who discovered it, believed it was too beautiful to have just one name. The cave offers guided tours to visitors, exploring underground chambers, stalactites, stalagmites, and other unique geological formations. The temperature inside the cave remains 66° temp year round, making it a comfortable place to visit even during the hottest days in the Texas heat.

Salty & Sweet

@saltyandsweetboerne | home to the most delicious salty and sweet treats. You feel a bit like you are in Willy Wonka’s candy store with such a large selection of goodies! Browse a variety of homemade ice cream, sundaes, milkshakes, cotton candy made in-house, hand-made pretzels, gourmet popcorn, cookie sandwiches, cupcakes, nostalgic candies, and a large selection of candy by the pound.

La Te Da & Pixie

@latedaboerne @glitziepixie | sister stores, located next door to each other, these boutiques offer a large selection of whimsical gifts for kids and adults – decked with fringe, feathers, and sequins! Find stylish clothing, sequin dresses, hats, accessories, jewelry, fairy wings, tutus, and small toys. A fun and engaging shopping experience that caters to kids’ interests, and to the child in all of us.

Boerne Bookshop

@theboernebookshop | take a breather from shopping, and relax a bit at the bookshop. Located just off Main Street, they have a children’s section, quiet-time kid-friendly activities, and storytime events with imaginative stories that transport kids to different worlds. The staff is friendly and are a great source for recommendations for age-appropriate books for your kids. The experience is enjoyable and engaging for kids, and also pleasant for you. Richter Bakhaus

@richterboerne | need a pick-me-up? Grab some refreshments next door while visiting the Boerne Book Shop! The Bakhaus serves fresh coffee, iced lattes, cold brews, bread, cookies, and pastries. MUST try one of their TEXAS-sized cinnamon rolls (famous on the Food Network), so oooey, gooey, buttery, soft and delicious. There is covered breeze-way between the shops with tables and a sitting area where you can relax in peace away from the bustling shops.

The Dog and Pony Grill

@dogandpony_boerne | a great place to go that will satisfy everyone for lunch or dinner. They offer delicious kid-friendly options as well as, a variety of tasty options for adults. The restaurant has a large outdoor area with a playground and a basketball court that kids will enjoy. Parents can relax and enjoy their meal while the kids play and burn off energy. They have live music and a fantastic happy hour menu with food and drink for the adults towards the evening. The service is great, the ambiance is casual and it is family-friendly.

It can be challenging it can be to find activities to entertain my niece and nephews on a day trip. Thanks for posting!
